In 2020, NEMRA embarked on a philanthropic effort through a partnership with the Gary Sinise Foundation to “do a little more” for our nation’s military heroes and their families.
Through its R.I.S.E. program (Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment), the Gary Sinise Foundation (GSF) is providing mortgage-free specially adapted smart homes to our most severely wounded heroes. In addition, R.I.S.E. also provides adapted vehicles, mobility devices, and home modifications to injured, wounded, ill and/or aging heroes from all conflicts.
At NEMRA21, we launched our very first fundraiser for the Foundation’s R.I.S.E. program, to assist the foundation in achieving its goal of building 80 specially adapted smart homes this year.
Thanks to the generosity of our members, we raised $7,000.00 and, through matching contributions from the current Board of Directors, are now up to $10,000.00.
In the coming weeks, NEMRA will make a visit to the Gary Sinise Foundation to present them with a check on behalf of our members and the association.
