The National Electrical Manufacturers Representatives Association (NEMRA) Lighting Division has announced its 2026 Lighting Council, a powerhouse team of industry leaders poised to drive innovation, advocacy, and education in the rapidly evolving lighting sector.

The council comprises industry professionals with extensive expertise in lighting. It is dedicated to advancing NEMRA Lighting’s core pillars: advocacy, education, and networking. The council actively advises the division on key decisions, such as legislative engagement, and shapes educational programs, including the Stepped Educational Curriculum launched in 2025. Additionally, they expand impactful resources, such as the Preferred Service Provider Network, and support networking events in key lighting events throughout the year.

“The Lighting Council is a distinguished group of industry leaders selected for their leadership expertise, industry knowledge, and commitment to advancing the future of the lighting sector,” said Jeff Bristol, Divisional Vice President of NEMRA Lighting. “Their insights and influence are crucial in driving NEMRA Lighting’s growth, strengthening our value proposition, while fostering collaborative partnerships between lighting agents and lighting manufacturers.”

In 2025, during its first year, the NEMRA Lighting Division experienced impressive growth. As of March 2026, the membership comprises approximately 180 lighting agents and manufacturers. Members are referring new participants to the network via NetworkLINK, a membership outreach tool developed in response to a suggestion from the Lighting Council.

In the fall, the council met to discuss various strategic topics. Key areas of focus included strengthening advocacy efforts, reviewing the progress of marketing and communications initiatives, and enhancing members’ visibility into upcoming resources. The council will continue these efforts in 2026 to support successful delivery.

“The 2026 Advisory Lighting Council represents the best and brightest in our industry. Their expertise will not only guide NEMRA Lighting’s growth and strategic direction but also shape the future of the entire lighting industry.”

Joining the council for the first time are Hagen Denton and David Bennett. Denton, Principal of Architectural Design Solutions at ELA + Synergy Electrical Sales, brings deep expertise in energy and controls, making him an invaluable liaison to the NEMRA Board. Bennett, Principal of L an D Sustainability, specializes in energy-efficient technologies, offering cutting-edge insights to the council.

“Denton’s experience in both lighting manufacturing and agency environments, along with his comprehensive knowledge of lighting and controls in new construction and specification-driven markets, makes him an ideal candidate to support and guide strategic initiatives for the NEMRA Lighting Council. Additionally, David offers valuable market insights and practical expertise that will enhance the NEMRA Lighting Council and provide meaningful benefits to its members,” noted Bristol.

There is tremendous excitement building around what lies ahead for the division. The NEMRA Lighting Council will also play a critical role in shaping the inaugural Lighting Summit, scheduled for October 15-17, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. The division announced this week that registration for the NEMRA Lighting Summit will open soon. Bristol added that the council will provide strategic input to ensure attendees leave the summit with game-changing value and fresh perspectives.

Returning NEMRA Lighting Council members for 2026 include Jenny Brust (E. Williams, Inc.), Brian Donlon (Lutron Electronics Co., Inc.), Tim Kelley (IlluminateNE), John Palk (SESCO Lighting), Mike Ramthun (Davis & Associates), Kris Steiger (Schaeffer Marketing Group), Chip Taylor (Current), and Tom Thomson (SCI Lighting Solutions).

Bristol also expressed gratitude to departing members Troy Jennings and Jay Andrews. “We extend our sincere appreciation to Troy and Jay. While they will be departing the council this year, their contributions have been invaluable to our initial launch last year, our growth strategy, and our current success,” he said.

Committed to advocacy, education, and networking, NEMRA Lighting continues to forge a meaningful path forward for lighting agents and lighting manufacturers, shaping the future of the lighting industry.
