Jimmy D. Bixler (June 06, 1932 – April 02, 2021)

Jimmy D. Bixler, age 88, of Council Bluffs, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021 at Midlands Living Center. Jimmy was born on June 6, 1932 in rural Corning, Iowa to the late William and Velma (Cole) Bixler. He served his country in the US Army National Guard. Jimmy married Bea Boswell in February 1952. He was the owner and operator of Jim Bixler & Associates. Jimmy was a member of St. John Lutheran Church; youngest salesman without a college degree hired by Kellogg Sales Company. One of the youngest to obtain an Iowa State Real Estate Brokers License at age 23. Founded BixlerO’Dougherty Company at age 24; Founding member of Lake Manana Association; appointed to Iowa Conservation Commission by Governor Ray at age 39; Founder National Association of Electrical Manufacturers Representatives 1969; President in 1980; 32ndDegreeMaster Mason; Tangier Shrine; Past President of Council Bluffs Industrial Foundation; Nebraska –Iowa Electrical Council. Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Bixler. Survivors include his wife, Bea Bixler of Council Bluffs; sons, Jimmy and Rose Bixler of Bentley, Iowa; Jeff and Mary Bixler of Council Bluffs; Joe and Chris Bixler of Papillion, NE.; 6grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; Brother, Sam Bixler of Chandler, AZ.; sister, Sherry Jameson of Sioux Falls, S. Dakota; Nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
