Dear Members,
Following our recent meetings in the Senate this past week, I wanted to share a brief update that highlights the importance of NEMRA’s advocacy efforts and our participation in key industry coalitions.
A recent POLITICO Pro article reported that bipartisan discussions around federal permitting reform are once again moving forward in the Senate, with renewed momentum behind efforts to modernize the permitting process and accelerate energy and infrastructure development across the United States.
Over the past two years, NEMRA has worked closely with our partners through the MOU alliance with NAED, NEMA, and NECA, as well as through our involvement with the Small Business Legislative Council (SBLC). Together, we have consistently emphasized the importance of permitting reform as a critical step in supporting infrastructure growth and energy development.
While permitting reform may sound technical, delays in the process slow grid expansion, electrification projects, renewable energy development, and other investments that depend on a strong electrical supply chain.
No single organization can claim credit for the renewed discussions taking place in Congress. However, the consistent and coordinated advocacy of industry associations—including our MOU partners and the SBLC—has helped keep this issue in front of policymakers.
This is where NEMRA’s voice matters. Through these coalitions, we help ensure the perspective of independent manufacturers’ representatives and the small businesses we represent is included in the national policy conversation.
That is why NEMRA maintains an active presence in Washington—to ensure our members have a voice when decisions are made that shape the future of our association and the electroindustry.
Sincerely,
Jim Johnson
